Lampada realizzata con la tecnologia del rowing applicata ad una fettuccia di fibra di vetro impregnata di resina. L’intreccio è il risultato del processo di avvolgimento casuale della fettuccia intorno al mandrino. Nei primi prototipi era stata utilizzata la fibra di carbonio ed una fettuccia più sottile, ma la struttura era nel complesso meno stabile e l’effetto visivo meno “materico”. L’ipotesi di dotarla di una struttura interna per darle maggiore stabilità era stata scartata perché in conflitto con la pulizia del segno. Si è quindi adottata una fettuccia più larga e spessa e resinata. L’effetto positivo è stato duplice: uno straordinario effetto “materico” e una struttura più stabile, cosa che ha reso possibile far scomparire il cavo elettrico all’interno della struttura ad intreccio, ed ottenendo così una struttura completamente cava all’interno, e quindi leggera. La piantana è dotata di due sorgenti luminose separate: una in posizione inferiore che illumina in maniera emozionale l’interno e sottolinea la presenza grafica dell’intreccio, e una superiore che produce un’illuminazione riflessa verso il soffitto, adempiendo alla funzionale di illuminare l’ambiente. Tress è proposta anche in versione da tavolo e da soffitto. Nel 2011 si è aggiunta la versione Tress Stilo, più sottile.
A lamp, crafted using rowing sports technology applied to a strip of fiberglass impregnated with resin. The weaving is the result of the random winding process of the strip around the mandrel. In the initial prototypes, carbon fibre and a thinner strip were used, but the overall structure was less stable, and the visual effect was less textured. The idea of providing it with an internal structure for greater stability was discarded because it conflicted with the purity of the design. A wider and thicker strip was then adopted and resin coated. The positive effect was twofold, an extraordinary textured effect and a more stable structure, which made it possible to conceal the electrical cable inside the woven structure and achieve a completely hollow and lightweight interior. The floor lamp is equipped with two separate light sources, one at the bottom that emotionally illuminates the interior and emphasizes the graphic presence of the weave, and one at the top that produces reflected lighting towards the ceiling thus fulfilling the functional role of illuminating the environment. Tress is also available in table and ceiling versions. In 2011, the Tress Stilo version, slimmer, was added.
